A Delegation of the congregation of the Stephen Wise Free Synagogue, New York along with their Rabbi Ammi Hirsch visited Greece on an educational and informative journey through the refugee crisis.
Everyone has, at some point, packed a bag to take with them on a journey; but how many of us have packed a bag that will hold all we have left in this world? When you’re forced to leave your home, what do you bring with you? What will fit into the rucksack or bag that you, yourself must carry for such a long way? What size is this bag, how much does it weigh? How much can you carry; physically, psychologically?
Annabel Koning a photographer visited our facilities for 5 days in May and asked our residents to share with her the “things they have carried”. They showed her their bags and what they are carrying with them, they spoke to her about what they carry in their hearts.
NOSTOS is happy to present the first activity inspired by the suggestions of Dr. Stefan White and a group of postgraduate students of the Manchester School of Architecture Projects, Centre of Spatial Inclusion that visited one of our facilities XENIA Athens. A variety of plants has arrived in XENIA Athens and we are ready to plant olive trees, pomegranate trees, herbs and vegetables on our roof. On Monday 13, February 2017 we will start planting!
The actress Juliet Stevenson and colleagues from Safe Passage (www.safepassage.org.uk) visited our facility for young boys XENIA TEENS and met with our residents and staff.
Mrs. Stevenson and Safe Passage support unaccompanied minors around Europe, trying to give them a voice and access to their lawful rights.
